For you to want to spend time with me.

My soul screams for attention.
My heart aches for tender love.
Please make me a priority,
stay with me when push comes to shove.

Why don't you want us? Your family.
Why have you thrown us away?
Why aren't we enough for you?
Why aren't we enough to make you want to stay?

I'm someone to be wanted.
I'm someone to be needed.
You don't seem to see that.
For you I'm just someone to be mistreated.

Chameleon Mask

I pretend I'm happy
I put my brave face on.
I pretend its okay,
I pretend I belong.

I'm letting go now,
slipping far away.
I wont put the mask on,
not for you today.

I've let this darkness,
eat away at my soul.
I'm breaking through,
I won't pay the toll.

I'm going to start,
to put the pieces back.
I'm going to paint,
turning color from black.

Letting go of the pain,
letting go of the fear.
I'm starting again,
I'm changing gear.

This is myself now,
not a chameleon mask.
